Floor Introduction：

      Culture Hall is 60 meters in length, 28 meters in width, 9.5 meters in height, it is about 600 square feet. The long-span structures were rare at the time, especially, there are no pillars in the hall.With neatly arranged chairs, it shows the magnificent momentum.National Taiwan Library was the exclusive conference center of National Assembly after the building was completed. There are up to 1800 seats. In the hall, the presidents were elected, amendment constitution was processed and national affairs were discussed here as well.In 2005, along with the dissolution of the last national assembly, the pictures of staff in uniforms and counting number of voting had become history.Around the stage of Culture Hall was decorated with the Han character “Shou” which means long life. On the two sides, there are 16 Han characters, meaning “The rise and fall of the country is everyone’s responsibility.”, and “Individual’s life and death is the least important.”According to the memories of President Chiang, Ching-Kuo, these two sentences were the last words for him from President Chiang Kai-Shek when he was critically ill.Those two sentences perfectly delivered President Chiang Kai-Shek’s concerns on revolutionary movements in his whole life, the original intention of devoting himself to the country and the great ambition which made him take his life and death as the least important.Due to Culture Hall’s important function which was the exclusive conference center of National Assembly, Hsiu, Tse-Lan, the architect had noticed the needs of the speakers.When standing on the stage, it’s easy to see the whole room with just a glance. Speakers can see almost every corner of the room without barrier. Besides, to avoid echo interference in such a large space, the design of concave-convex walls, thick carpets and curtains work really well in Culture Hall.
